July 6, 2026, Federated States of Micronesia__ <\/strong>With \u201cmajor damage\u201d reported across Rota including destruction to Mayor Aubrey Hocog\u2019s office<\/a> with 180 mph winds and gusts hitting 215 mph, the U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia are ready for recovery and repair efforts across Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). There are no reports of fatalities or serious injuries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia in Guam put out a statement Monday evening<\/a> saying they were staged and ready and also urged the public to remain safety vigilance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur crews have weathered this storm alongside the community they serve \u2014 boats, aircraft, and cutters are staged and ready to move the moment it\u2019s safe to do so,\u201d reads the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn the CNMI, our liaison officer and MSU Saipan team are sheltered in place, ready to assess ports and waterways with partners when conditions allow. Our Marianas personnel are all accounted for. Most are without power, some without water \u2014 but standing ready.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It cautions, \u201cWhile we wait for the all-clear, here\u2019s what we need from you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Stay indoors, off the roads. Impassable roadways are expected until COR 4 is announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Stay out of the water, away from shorelines. Life-threatening surf and dangerous marine conditions continue through Thursday. Coast Guard and partner response assets remain very limited until conditions improve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Report distress via VHF Channel 16 or 911 \u2014 never social media. Widespread VHF outages mean some calls may be relayed by partner agencies or other mariners.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On standby in Pohnpei is an \u00a0HC-130J Hercules aircrew from U.S. Coast Guard Airsta Barbers Point<\/strong><\/a> with, \u201cATON repair equipment and supplies and ready to fly assessments on approach to Guam.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Guam\u2019s Station Apra Harbor there are 29-foot response boats that will be first in the water to check ATON positions and waterway conditions. Our thanks to our EOD Mobile Unit FIVE<\/strong><\/a> partners standing by to assist with that effort. \u00a0Our cutters are safely clear of the storm and will transit back once conditions subside to help restore port and waterway access.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guam will continue to experience heavy winds of 45-60 mph and 80 mph gusts, with 4-6 inches of rainfall and a flood watch in effect until late Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
