May 4, 2020, Palau___<\/strong>The United States of America is fortifying the Peace Corps <\/a>with nine new volunteers in Palau for early elementary education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFollowing training, Volunteers will be placed in schools and communities across the country, where they will serve for two years alongside Palauan educators and community members to support early grade literacy,\u201d according to a statement from the U.S. Embassy Koror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commented Joel Ehrendreich, outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Palau and former Peace Cop volunteer<\/a>, \u201cThis is great for the Peace Corps, for Palau, and the children who will benefit from these Volunteers\u2019 skills for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added, \u201cThis is great for US-Palau relations, and for all of us who strive for peace and international friendship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to said Ms. Marguerite Roy, Country Director of Peace Corps Philippines and Palau,\u201d This is a meaningful moment for both Palau and the Peace Corps.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added, \u201cWe are honored to return at the invitation of the Government of Palau and to continue building relationships grounded in mutual respect, learning, and service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 1996, the US Peace Corps in Palau has seen 398 Americans serve for the greater good of amity and friendship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This news precedes Ambassador Ehrendreich’s outgoing tenure. In a statement from U.S. Embassy Koror, his work, \u201cwas marked by a deep commitment to fostering strong ties between the United States and Palau, as well as enhancing the well-being of the local community. His efforts not only strengthened diplomatic relations but also brought tangible benefits to the people of Palau. Through cultural exchanges, infrastructure development, and community support initiatives, Ambassador Ehrendreich left a lasting legacy that will continue to influence Palau positively in the years to come.
