June 29, 2026, Federated States of Micronesia__ The U.S. Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) is warning that the tropical disturbance classified as “Invest 95W” is likely to develop into a tropical cyclone that will occur in the coming days.
National Weather Service Tiyan, Guam warning coordination meteorologist Landon Aydlett told the Micronesia Sun that the storm was, “sluggish but steady” but still in its “formative stage,” meaning had not fully consolidated. More will be announced Tuesday on its threat analysis.
According to a U.S. National Weather Service Guam statement, “The main impacts in the short-term will be the potential for locally heavy rainfall, gusty westerly, winds and wave driven waves within eastern Micronesia. Invest 95W is still developing so long range projections remain uncertain.”
It continued, “Residents in Guam and CNMI should continue to monitor the overall weather pattern and forecasts from NWS Guam, and maintain the general state of preparedness we all should be practicing as part of Typhoon Preparedness Month and for this time of year. Invest 96W is unlikely to develop over next few days as it slowly exits the region west of 130E.”
Over the coming days, Aydlett advised, “Those in FSM should keep aware and follow regional weather forecasts and information from WFO [Weather Forecast Office} Guam , local WSOs [Weather Service Offices] and DCOs [District Coordination Officers].”
