Micronesia Sun aims to bring “Brighter News from the Deep Pacific” about the Freely Associated States of the Republic of Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, and Marshall Islands, as well as their Pacific ties and exchanges around the Pacific in Polynesia, Melanesia, the French Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, as well as their work at the United Nations and Embassies globally.
As one of the most underreported parts of the planet, Micronesia’s Islands and Ocean borders in North Pacific are of global interest for climate change, security, and maritime business opportunities.
The longitudinal distance from Palau to the eastern borders of the Marshall Islands stretches across more than 2,500 miles of the Pacific Ocean, making these “Large Ocean States” expanse nearly as wide continental United States—although all three nations are in a Compact of Free Association (COFA) with America as Freely Associated States (FAS).
We aim to increase Micronesia’s local and global understanding with Monday to Friday posts on urgent matters such as emerging typhoons, regional security battling illegal fishing and drug smuggling, to maritime matters – all with solutions focused angles of how everyday people and policymakers are beating the odds and redesigning the game.
