Tropical Depression Weather Alert: U.S. Embassy Kolonia, Federated States of Micronesia (April 9, 2026)

U.S. Mission Kolonia, Federated States of Micronesia has just issued a Weather Alert April 9, 2026.

“The National Weather Service and Joint Typhoon Warning Center have issued an alert for Tropical Depression 04W in FSM, which could become a tropical storm and then typhoon. The storm is near Weno and heading west. Islands north and west of Weno, including the western Chuuk outer islands and all Yap islands, are areas of concern for the next 4-5 days and may have dangerously heavy rain, winds, and waves. Islands east of Weno, including Pohnpei and Kosrae, may also continue to experience rain and rough conditions.”

“Actions to Take:

• Stay out of the ocean.

Seek secure shelter with ample food and water.

Minimize unnecessary movements.

• Secure outside items.

• Notify family and friends of your safety.

• Monitor updates from U.S. and FSM weather service offices.”
