They write:

Weather Alert: U.S. Embassy Kolonia, (May 6, 2026)

Location: Chuuk and Yap

Event: The National Weather Service and Joint Typhoon Warning Center have issued an alert for Tropical Depression 05W in FSM, which could become a tropical storm. The storm is near Weno and heading west toward Yap. Islands in central/western Chuuk and all of Yap are areas of concern for the next 3-5 days and may have dangerously heavy rain, winds, and waves.

Actions to Take:

• Stay out of the ocean.

• Seek secure shelter with ample food and water.

• Minimize unnecessary movements.

• Secure outside items.

• Notify family and friends of your safety.

• Monitor updates from U.S. and FSM weather service offices.
