Tropical Depression Warning south of Guam

June 19, 2026, Federated States of Micronesia__The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS), Tiyan Guam and Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) are now categorizing weather formation 92W as a Tropical Depression, 85 miles south-southwest of Guam.

At 7:00 ChSt, they stated that it was “upgraded to HIGH for development into a tropical cyclone around midnight. A HIGH, also known as a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert (TCFA), indicates that a disturbance will likely be upgraded to a tropical depression within 24 hours.

This is the 7^th tropical cyclone pattern of this degree in 2026, ergo the classification of Tropical Depression 07W, presently moving, “west at 10 mph with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. 07W is expected to turn toward the west-northwest today with a slight increase in forward speed. 07W continues to strengthen this morning and is expected to become a tropical storm later this afternoon as it heads away from the Marianas. Tropical storm force winds of 39 mph or more, are still not anticipated across Guam, the CNMI or any islands within the NWS Guam Area of Responsibility (AOR), therefore, tropical storm watches and warnings are not in effect.”

This, “overnight allowed the stronger winds along the northern periphery to funnel over Guam, and similarly across the CNMI. Observations across Guam showed sustained overnight winds generally between 20 and 25 mph, but gusts, particularly with some of the heavier showers, reached up to 40 mph.”

Guam Airport saw the strongest winds of 55 mph  this morning, with Andersen Air Force Base experience gusts of 48 mph just before midnight. The CNMI is expected to see winds averaging 25-35 mph, with

Air Force Base recorded a gust of 48 mph just before midnight. Gusty winds persist across the CNMI with gusts up to between 25 and 35 mph this morning but a weakening of showers. Small craft and wind advisories have been issue for Guam this afternoon.
