Majuro: 2026 Forum Economic Ministers Meeting Closes and first Pacific Resilience Facility (PRF) Council Meeting Launches

June 26, 2026, Marshall Islands__The 2026 Forum Economic Ministers Meeting (FEMM) closing and launch of the first Pacific Resilience Facility (PRF) Council Meeting in Majuro this week put diplomacy and solutions in motion the Marshall Islands.

According to a statement from the Pacific Islands Forum, “Over the course of the two-day meeting, Ministers engaged in substantive discussions on the region’s key economic priorities and the advancement of the Pacific Roadmap on Economic Development, in alignment with the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.”

The week also saw the launch of the first Pacific Resilience Facility (PRF) Council Meeting in Majuro.

According to a statement from the Pacific Islands Forum, “The PRF is a vision of Pacific Islands Forum Leaders: the first Pacific-led, owned and managed regional climate and disaster resilience financing facility, dedicated to supporting communities on the frontline of the climate crisis.”

Moreover, the PIF states, “The Pacific Resilience Facility will help vulnerable Pacific people exposed to climate change and disaster risks, particularly women and girls, children, the elderly and people with disabilities. We want to respond proactively to build our communities’ preparedness, and to offer a transformative solution. We don’t want to wait for the next disaster.”
