July 1, 2026, Federated States of Micronesia__ The Government of Yap has concluded an “Inaugural Yap State Department of Resources and Development Conference 2026,” with a “milestone” signature of a “Conference Outcomes Document.”

Spanning four days with the theme “Caring for our Land, our Sea, our People: Securing our Future,” the conference saw, “state leadership, traditional leaders, development partners, the private sector, students, and community members to discuss the future of Yap’s natural resources, economy, workforce, and communities.”




Topics of included responsible land management, economic development, food security, workforce enrichment, marine conservation, and community engagement that will lay,“the foundation for stronger partnerships and a unified vision for sustainable development,” according to a statement from the Yap State Department of Resources and Development.


Micronesia Sun is working on receiving a copy of the “Conference Outcomes Document” that was signed by Nicholas Figirlaarwon, Speaker of the 11th Yap State Legislature, Thomas Falngin, Chairman of the Council of Pilung, and Director Bernard Gorong, who sat in for Yap Governor Francis Itimai. We will be reporting further on this project’s next steps.
The statement adds, “The conversations may have concluded, but the work has only just begun. Together, we will continue caring for our land, our sea, and our people as we secure Yap’s future.”
