July 28, 2026, Federated States of Micronesia___ Australia is increasing support for harm to children and threats to humanitarian supplies with support for UNICEF and Tetra Tech Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) clearing a safe warehouse supply site.
Australia Ambassador Grant recently welcomed UNICEF’s newly appointed Chief of UNICEF North Pacific Office, Mr Seifu Ali for their “hand-in-hand” partnership with, “FSM Government and local communities to improve outcomes for children and young people through investments in health, education, family protection, nutrition, water and sanitation.”
Ambassador Grant said the partnership with UNICEF, “is helping to create a brighter future for children across Micronesia. We thank the outgoing Chief Mr. Cromwell Bacareza for his eight years of friendship and service and welcome Mr Seifu Ali to this important work.”
Beyond UNICEF, the Australia Embassy announced a, “important milestone for the Pacific Humanitarian Warehouse in Palikir, as Mr. Ben McMahon and Mr. Kyle Andrew from the Tetra Tech Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) team completes its site clearance work.” The safety measures will ensure that the Pacific Humanitarian Warehouse Program, a multi-donor partnership with the FSM Department of Environment, Climate Change and Emergency Management (DECCEM), and the Pacific Community (SPC), is not built on WWII explosives.
Second Secretary Josh Critchley-Evans said,”Australia is proud to be a part of this initiative that will strengthen disaster preparedness and humanitarian response efforts across the FSM and the wider Pacific region. We thank the Tetra Tech team for their commitment to ensuring the site in Palikir is safe and ready to commence construction.”
