Super Typhoon Dolphin Moving Away from Micronesia, but Caution Remains

July 31, 2026, Federated States of Micronesia___US National Weather Service Guam is advising that Super Typhoon Dolphin is moving away from Micronesia but will leave a trail of heavy rain and winds that will be felt in the already typhoon beaten region.

They have a standing small craft advisory for Pohnpei and Kosrae and Gale watch for Guam’s coastal waters. US National Weather Service Guam stated today as of 11am ChST that, “Currently, eastern Micronesia is experiencing increased shower potential and isolated thunderstorms with gusty westerly winds. As for the Marianas, Guam will start to shift from this morning’s light winds as the monsoon pattern moves northward. Increasing moisture and winds are expected tonight, whereas the CNMI can expect this regime most likely starting Saturday afternoon. Finally, western Micronesia is in the same regime, so moderate to fresh westerly winds are expected with showers increasing in potential from Palau to Chuuk.”

Following Typhoons Sinlaku and Bavi, islands in Chuuk state and CNMI’s Rota are still heavily damaged, so Super Typhoon Dolphin’s passing above the region is well relief.  The region is expected to see between two five super typhoons this year according to a forecast by The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Western North Pacific.
